★★★★★A great decal set
October 24, 2022

I had not tried G-Rework decals before though I have seen them sold across different sites. I was looking for a water slide decal set for the Crossbone Gundam kit I bought from a local store, and this one looked the best to me. The default look was a bit plain for my tastes and I liked what G-Rework did with the design here. I was happy with the end result. The Crossbone is a small kit, so decals will stand out even more, and this style makes the most use of the space, much better than the default Bandai designs. I really like the SNRI, F97, and Crossbone Vanguard decal designs in this set. I had heard from other sets some mixed results with G-Rework, but honestly I'm quite pleased with the end result. They are thinner, but not so much so that they tear or curl easily - I would suggest though to keep holding the decal when in water rather than letting it float for a few seconds, since some might slide right off. I liked that the decals for the most part adhered to the kit quickly once set onto the approach (I used a standard approach of Mark Setter or Softer depending on the location) and you did not see too much of the boundaries. They did not react badly with the topcoat either. There is no application guide outside the picture included with the set. For the most part however they line up with the numbers used on the manual. I would suggest though looking up the pictures for this set on the G-Rework site which includes multiple angles of the kit to get a feel for what goes where. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. Especially since I did a straight build on this with lining and minimal paint, this set really made the Crossbone stand out.

★★★★★A great first RG
November 21, 2021

I built the HG version of this in the past as I was not confident I could do an RG at the time. I have seen a lot of good things written about this model and decided to take a shot at it when I felt more confident in my skills. While more time consuming than an HG, the results were really great, even with just some lining and decaling (I used water slides on mine). The undergate system is a good way to help reduce the amount of time cleaning up nubmarks as well. It is great to pose, and you can still do so with the fin funnels attached to it while it still being pretty stable. I am very happy with this RG and recommend it to anyone wanting to try one.

★★★★★A great HG

While overshadowed by its more recent and detailed cousins in the other lines, the HG version is no slouch. If you prefer a more anime-like look, this one is also closer to how the suit looked in Char's Counterattack. This is an older HG model, so the articulation is not as fine as in some newer HG models - however, it is still very sturdy and can do some great poses. You'll have to be careful with balance due to how top-heavy the funnels and the bazooka can make the model, but I've otherwise been able to perch him up on a shelf without a stand. This is a model where some lining can make a world of difference. If you are curious about using gundam markers or other liners, this is a good model to show what a big difference it can make on HG models. I am still a rookie in the gunpla department and this was really my first attempt at using liners, but I was happy with how much nicer my model looked was with some markers. I also used some matte topcoat which really helped to make the contrast between the whites and black in this kit really pop. The only gripe I would have with this model are with some of the stickers. In particular, the two meant for the feet and the other for the emblem on the waist. These really do not seem to stick very well to the gundam, and in particular the one in the torso just never really looks right. I may have to go back over those with some paint, as they are just simple color decals rather than emblems. This model also stands noticeably taller than my other HG figures, almost like a small MG in some ways. This kit took longer to build than my other HGs, but it wasn't difficult. Putting the funnels together was probably the most time consuming part of assembly. Just be sure to pay very careful attention to what parts you are using when putting the funnels together, since it impacts the way they will link together. Overall, this is a fun model to build. It may not have the better detailing of its larger cousins or the flexibility of newer models, but it is a great model for when it was released and is a good addition to anyone's collection, especially if you want some nice looking HG models.
