It's a wonderful little kit! Easily the most flexible SD I own so far. But it's essentially just red plastic, all of the Black, white, and gold is on a sticker sheet. If you're willing to paint it, it can turn out amazing!

This thing was my first master Grade I ever built. I love it! It’s big, weighty, but not complicated! If you ever built a Real Grade from the last 10 years, you’ll do fine with this kit!

Okay, so cards on the table: I love this kit. It’s got great articulation, sculpts’ excellent, the weapons and gimmicks are fun! HOWEVER, I did not build it. I bought the SEALED box from a secondhand store near me, and when I brought it home, the main body was already built. Devastated. But that’s not the kit’s fault.

I expected this kit to get really loose really quickly like the Entry RX-78-2. I’m very glad it hasn’t! It’s a handsome kit, with a build that’s really fun, yet really quick! I’m kinda Jonesing to do it again…

The Shining Gundam is my favorite Gundam, if not my favorite mobile suit, so I jumped at the chance to own a classic model of it! I got the Rising Gundam version of this before, so I knew what to expect. But this kit gave me one major disappointment: it doesn't come with a Shining Finger Hand! (Pro-tip, the balljoint of the hand is sized for SD Gundam kits, not conventional HG hands.)Other than that, this kit is pretty good! It just likes being still more than doing any fighting.

The Shining Gundam is my favorite mobile suit, full stop. And by-proxy, the Rising Gundam is pretty darn cool too. This is the only model kit I could find of it, and I figured it would be good! This is relatively simple compared to anything modern, but it can move okay! The stickers were annoying to use though, so I tried painting it myself. I did an... okay job, but I'm still happy to own the Rising Gundam!

I have very little attachment to Gundam Seed, (Pretty much just SRW J) but this little dude hasn't left my desk in some time! He's so fun to fiddle with and pose. I even tried my hand at painting him, since he has very little in paint apps outside of the part's main colors. For a 5-er, he's fun as he is, but I think putting in that little extra effort makes you feel all the more connected to the kit. Best part is, you don't even have to do a good Job! (I certainly didn't but he still feels more complete with the better eyes and Gray trim.) Give him, or any of the SD kits a shot if you want a little buddy to watch Gundam with!

Could any of these striker packs fit on the RG Astray?
December 1, 20231 Answer:
Unfortunately the RG Strike and Astray use different connectors so this wouldn't be possible. HOWEVER if you're interested I'm sure you could put in a little work to mount the backpacks or try to 3d print a connector if you have access to a printer, and the MG astrays do come with an adapter for Striker backpacks if you're interested in upping the scale a little (The Astray Blue D also comes with the Aile Striker in-box)
