I know there was a 1/144 NG released sometime back in the 80s but no news on any HG or RG release. Fingers crossed!

The arms from the Alex are compatible with this kit. All the kits I mention that are suitable replacements I actually fitted to verify compatibility. As for substitutes HGUC#45 (Gelgoog jager) is a good replacement if you want to use the nu shoulders. Do not use HGUC#76 (Gelgoog cannon) because the pegs to hold on the arms is significantly larger than the nu. I'm not sure if HGUC#16 (Gelgoog marine),26 (Cima's custom gelgoog marine), and 70 (Char's custom gelgoog) will work so buyer beware. The other replacement if you don't care about the shoulders would be HGUC#124 (Dreissen). I can't think of too many other kits that have guns on the forearms besides the HGGTO full scale deployment gundam and I don't have one to test. As for the god gundam I do not own one to play Frankenstein with. Good luck on your endeavor.

Well for colors, you would have to go with Mr color, Bandai puts color combinations to match the Gundam color scheme perfectly on the Gundam manuals, you can find that on dalong, they post almost all Gundam manuals there.

Mr. Hobby's UG16 is the closest in terms of colors specifically mixed for Gundams.
