I got this a couple weeks ago, and have been using it pretty religiously instead of my standard go-to (Zippo lighter fluid). I've found the Solven product significantly less aggressive than lighter fluid. The trade-off is that you'll need to put a little more effort/friction into pulling excess liner off, but you get a much cleaner result. Also, the product does not evaporate as fast off your removal tool of choice (I'm mainly using the included cotton swabs); depending on your panel line/clean up process, this may be a benefit to you.

I've done 8 MGs, and this is the first one to disappoint me. Don't get me wrong - it has a lot going for it on paper: great shelf presence due to the bulkiness of the design; lots of gimmicks - including the iridescent/holographic ribbons distributed throughout the suit; and comes with a action base! I really enjoyed making the weapons for this kit - they were simple, look deadly (the sword/knife are very sharp!), and have some excellent color separation. However, there are lots of loose parts (leg, back skirt, heel armor, chest vent armor), which makes posing the MS an adventure every time. I ended up gluing some pieces together. I also really dislike the fact that it does not peg to the included stand - it's the saddle type of attachment to the bottom of the pants. IMO this limits the types of poses you can do with the unit, although you may not want to put it into anything extreme, as it may just blow up on you. The MS is currently in a weird saddle position on the action base because I'm scared to touch it - kind of offsets the whole "shelf presence" thing.

This thing has saved me a couple times on builds already. Nice, flat edge so you're not putting too much pressure on a narrow part of the plastic. Blade is a little sharp - you won't cut yourself unless you're really trying to. Pops out with a very satisfying *snap* - I may get another one to use as a fidget tool...

I had been using some cheap glass files from Amazon prior to picking this thing up - to varying levels of success, but found them pretty mid. On the other hand, these things are incredible. I need less passes to remove nub marks. The kit is a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it!
