★★★☆☆Better off getting a MG
December 26, 2025

This was my first RG kit and god i now understand the hate for the prebuilt inner frame. as a 1/144 scale gundam id still say it looks nice but for the time and effort you are better off getting a MG because the detailing would look better on a bigger scale. I haven't built the HG nor MG version of the gundam mkII, so i dont know if the build quality and process is any better, ateast the MG has a proper inner frame and not one that feels flimsy and forces you to cut specific lengths of fabrics and wires. Also the metallic detailing is so tiny I just gave up and used my metallic markers to do it. I would gladly love to see a Ver 2.0 of this kit as its a more practical gundam design compared to the grand daddy. I have a GP01 RG to build, but after hearing its the worst of them I may just not. TLDR: If you're already familiar with the horrible RG inner frames go for it, otherwise id steer clear and get a HG or MG.

^ but also looks way better than the stickers the come with the kit, totally worth the extra cost. These need a whole week to set and can sometimes even come off anyway if there is no topcoat

How do you use this? I tried painting with it but the color just came out as an orange gold instead of the pictured champagne gold

1 Answer:

Pigments and metallic flakes will settle to the bottom during storage. Mix very well before using to get the color balance back.

How do you properly use this paint? I tried using paint brushes but it didnt turn out well. Is this for paint brushes or air brushing?

August 28, 2025

1 Answer:

These lacquers are better suited for airbrush use due to the quick drying times. For hand-painting, use enamels or acrylics. You can hand-brush lacquer, but thin the paint with leveling thinner or retarder to slow the drying time.

Will this ever be restocked?

Wishlist and you'll know when it comes back. Bandai doesn't publish their reprint schedule anymore so it's anyone's guess when the next run occurs.

Bandai needs to milk more money. Expect the HWS parts set to be P-Bandai only and cost like $200.
